The experience
When the dunes are further than your days allow, the kasbahs come to meet you. We leave Marrakech early, climb the High Atlas by the Tizi n'Tichka pass and drop into the south, where the great earthen ksar of Aït Ben Haddou rises above the river, a UNESCO site and the backdrop of a hundred films. There's time to wander its lanes, climb to the rooftops for the view, and pause for a quiet lunch facing the old kasbah before the road carries you back to Marrakech by evening, the south still in your eyes.
